7 killed in explosion in Southern France

French authorities said on Monday that the explosion occurred in the town of Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque, located in the region near the Spanish border, adding that the explosion led to a fire in three buildings.
Seven people were killed and at least 30 others were injured as a result of an explosion, followed by a fire, in the Eastern Pyrenees, southern France.
French authorities said on Monday that the explosion occurred in the town of Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque, located in the region near the Spanish border, adding that the explosion led to a fire in three buildings, killing seven people, including two children, and wounding more than 30 people.
For his part, Jean-David Cavaille, the Prosecutor of Perpignan, the regional capital, stated that two people are still missing, explaining that the cause of the explosion is still completely unknown so far, while an investigation has been opened to find out its circumstances.
