BJP has put up over 50,000 posters across tribal-dominated areas naming Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee anti-tribal for not supporting presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu.
The BJP has put up over 50,000 posters across tribal-dominated areas in West Bengal naming Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee anti-tribal for not supporting presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu.
The poster depicted Banerjee dancing with tribal girls wearing gloves. Written in Bengali, the poster said the BJP had felicitated the tribal community by nominating a tribal woman, but CM Mamata Banerjee did not support tribal women and nominated someone else.

It further said CM Mamata Banerjee was anti-tribal. This comes a day after West Bengal Leader of Opposition Subhendu Adhikary had given an ultimatum to Mamata Banerjee saying she did not support Droupadi Murmu, the BJP will start putting up posters depicting Mamata Banerjee as an anti-tribal lady.
BJP used a picture from a few month-old North Bengal event where Mamata Banerjee had participated in a tribal mass wedding programme and performed tribal dance holding tribal girls’ hands. Due to the Covid19 pandemic, the nearest girls holding the CM's hand were wearing gloves.
Bengal has more than 52 lakh tribal people, which is around 6% of the total population of Bengal.
