5 reasons why far away centers is a bad idea for term-2 exams
India Today
As Covid-19 cases are yet again spurting, board exams of students have again become a matter of concern. Moreover, the centers for term-2 exams are far away from the location of students.
Delhi and cities in NCR are witnessing a continuous rise in Covid-19 cases. As the positivity rate is showing an upward trend for the last few days, the most concerning fact is that schools that have been reopened after a gap of almost two years are reporting Covid-19 cases. When schools are facing a tough time containing the spread of the virus among the students, there is a bigger challenge to deal with and that will be the Term-2 board examinations which will start in May.
If the current trend continues, then the month of May could be the most crucial period when containing the virus will be the top priority. In a significant change from the Term-1 examinations for Classes 10 and 12, CBSE has decided to give centers for the term-2 examinations away from the students' schools.
This decision is not going well with the students and parents and even many schools are questioning the logic behind this change from Term-1 examinations. Not just schools but the experts in the medical profession are also contrary to the idea of giving centers away from home schools. Some key factors will impact the overall safety concern of the students if the centers are away from their schools.
Factor 1- The home school provides a better safety environment for the students. In most cases, the school in which a student is studying is near to the place of residence.
This provides them with an opportunity to travel less and easily reach the examination center. In any case, a student is more familiar with the ambiance of the school in which he is studying and hence can take care of safety in a better way.
Most parents are of the view that while Covid-19 is spreading and students are most vulnerable, then traveling less and going to familiar schools would be a better option rather than going to a school that is not just far-off in most cases, but also, students are not at all aware about the basic whereabouts, and the conditions are not friendly to them.
