42 lives lost in rain-related incidents in Uttarakhand; rainfall likely to continue in West Bengal, Odisha

As many as 42 lives were lost in rain-related incidents in Uttarkhand and another four in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in parts of West Bengal and Odisha over the next two days.
Torrential downpours continued to batter Uttarakhand with the state reporting at least 42 rain-related deaths on Tuesday. Parts of the state, including Nainital, were cut off from the rest of Uttarakhand as heavy rain reportedly triggered by a cloudburst led to a series of landslides.
Out of the 42 casualties reported on Tuesday, Nainital alone accounted for 28 deaths, followed by Almora and Champawat with six each and one each in Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar districts.
