4 people sent to hospital after pickup truck crashes into Calgary restaurant

Four people were sent to hospital Saturday night after a pickup truck drove into a restaurant in southeast Calgary.
Police received calls from the area shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday after a black GMC Sierra driven by a 76-year-old man crashed into Sammy's Chophouse restaurant on 34th Avenue S.E.
Police say they believe the driver crashed the vehicle into the front of the restaurant at high speed before coming to a stop inside, according to a news release.
Multiple people were assessed at the scene but only four of them had to be sent to the hospital, according to EMS acting public education officer Helene Hamilton.
Three women were sent to hospital, Hamilton said. One was sent to Foothills Medical Centre in stable, non-life-threatening condition, and another was transported to Foothills in serious but stable condition. The third woman was transported in stable, non-life threatening condition to South Health Campus.
One elderly man was also transported in stable, non-life threatening condition to the Peter Lougheed Centre.
The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle stayed at the scene, Acting Staff Sgt. Richard Wiebach of Calgary police told CBC News.
No charges have yet been laid and the incident is still being investigated by the Calgary police traffic unit, Wiebach said. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the incident, according to police.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident or dashcam footage of the area to contact them by calling 403-266-1234.
