Citing Nuevo León state governor Samuel García, Mexican President Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador said four people were killed and at least 15 were injured. Mexico’s meteorological service had forecast powerful winds across the region, warning of gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour (43 miles per hour) beginning Wednesday afternoon. Álvarez Máynez later said he was suspending all campaign activities after the collapse but would remain in the state to monitor the situation and victims. “I am fine and in communication with state authorities to follow up on what happened,” he said on X, adding that injured members of his team are being treated in the hospital.
