Four children were found unresponsive on a shoreline in Portneuf-sur-Mer on Quebec's North Shore on Saturday, according to provincial police (SQ).
The SQ could not immediately confirm the children's health status but said they were rushed to hospital in an unconcious state.
The children were among 11 people swept up by the tide in a fishing incident overnight Friday. One person, a man in his 30s, is still missing, while six others were rescued.
"According to initial reports, a group of people were fishing on foot along the shore when they were caught by the tide," said SQ sergeant Catherine Bernard.
Rescuers were first called to the waters near Portneuf-sur-Mer, about 300 km northeast of Quebec City, at around 2 a.m.
The search for the missing man was ongoing as of about 10:30 a.m., with SQ divers and members of the Armed Forces called in to assist.
Police did not disclose the identities of the victims but said they are known to each other.
