South Africa vs Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal led Bangladesh to a historic ODI series victory after Taskin Ahmed ran through the Proteas batting unit with a 5-wicket haul in the 3rd and final ODI in Centurion.
Months after beating New Zealand in a Test match for the first time in New Zealand, Bangladesh achieved another first by scripting their maiden ODI series win over South Africa in South Africa on Wednesday. The visitors, led by Tamim Iqbal, hammered South Africa by 9 wickets, making light work of a chase of a paltry 155-run target in the final ODI of a 3-match series at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.
South Africa last week had won their first-ever international match in South Africa against South Africa at the same venue, successfully defending a 317-run total in the first ODI. They lost the 2nd ODI in Johannesburg but the visors were switched on and decimated the Proteas on Wednesday.
Bangladesh rode on a superb spell of fast-bowling from Taskin Ahmed who picked up his 2nd ODI 5-wicket haul earlier in the day.
After bowling out South Africa for 154 runs in just 37 overs, Bangladesh had a 127-run opening stand between captain Tamim and Litton Das to power through to the target and script history. Keshav Maharaj picked up the only wicket for the hosts (Das for 48) as Tamim smashed 87 from just 82 balls. The captain along with Shakib Al Hasan remained unbeaten when the team went past the finish line in just 26.3 overs.
