Tribune News NetworkDohaAlmost 37 percent of people aged 16 years and above have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine since the start of Qatarâs National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has announced.â36.9 percent of the eligible population has now received at least one dose of the vaccine,â the MoPH said in a tweet.âAbout 83.4 percent of people over 60 (the most vulnerable population group) have been vaccinated with at least one dose, while 68.8 percent have received both the vaccine doses,â the MoPH added.A total of 1,296,520 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered since the start of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme. As many as 25,042 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the past 24 hours, the MoPH added.COVID-19 vaccines are being administered at health centres, vaccination facilities at Qatar National Convention Centre and the Doha Industrial Area, as well as two drive-through vaccination centres in Al Wakra and Lusail.Expanding the vaccination drive, the MoPH had lowered the age threshold for COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to 35 years.Meanwhile, Qatar on Tuesday reported 885 COVID-19 cases â 716 of them from community and 169 from travellers returning from abroad.Also, 733 people have recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries in Qatar to 175,431.In addition, the ministry announced five new deaths, aged 42, 45, 61, 77, and 87, four of which had a history of chronic disease.
