31 tribal settlements in Chamarajanagar district to receive electricity, bringing light to the lives of residents after decades of darkness.
The darkness in 31 tribal settlements in the backward Chamarajanagar district will soon come to an end with the launch of a project to bring electricity to the hadis. All houses in the hadis will soon get electricity connection, bringing light in the lives of the tribals who have been living there for decades.
By carrying out the ground-breaking ceremony for the project at Purani Podi near Yelandur on Saturday, Minister in charge of Chamarajanagar district K. Venkatesh gave a start to the ambitious project that will electrify the hadis. The people have been living without lights since the time they were living in the hadis, and the project is a ray of hope as it was addressing the key infrastructure need.
Kyathadevaragudi, Kanneracolony, Bootanipodu, Monakkai Podu, Bedaguli, Maarigudi Podu, Kaadigere, Indiganatta, Mendare, Bisalagere, Tulasikere, Nellikattri are among the 31 hadis which will soon be electrified.
“Today is an important day. For, the haadis are getting electricity. The Chief Minister had directed for electrifying the hadis during his visit to the Chamarajanagar recently. Accordingly, the project was initiated and launched. The support and cooperation of the elected representatives and especially the Deputy Commissioner, Shilpa Nag, was significant,” the Minister said.
In total, 2,486 houses in 31 hadis will get electricity connection at a cost of ₹41.6 crore. This is one of the steps of providing basic facilities to the tribal people. Also, the Chief Minister has given his nod for developing 128 km of roads that connect the hadis. All existing roads will be developed, the Minister said.
There are also plans to build houses for the tribals. Each house will be constructed at a cost of ₹5 lakh. This proposal was placed before the Chief Minister, who has now directed the officials to send a proposal in this regard, Mr. Venkatesh informed.
Kollegal MLA A.R. Krishnamurthy said that the Deputy Commissioner has put in a lot of effort in making the project of electrification of the haadis happen. The project is being launched through underground cabling.
