30 migrant workers arrested in Tamil Nadu’s Erode for rioting, injuring policemen

Tamil Nadu police arrested 30 migrant workers in Erode for rioting and injuring policemen by pelting stones and damaging their vehicles. The injured policemen had to barricade themselves in a room to protect themselves.
As many as 30 migrant workers were arrested by Tamil Nadu police in Erode for rioting and injuring policemen. The workers were rioting because one of them had died in a road accident.
Hundreds of migrants work in several private firms in Erode. Kamothram, a migrant worker from Bihar, was working in an oil factory and had died in an accident after a lorry ran over him.
As a result, migrant workers had gathered in the factory seeking compensation for Kamothram’s family, and the police were called in to control the crowd.
The situation turned ugly as the crowd began to riot. Five policemen who had gone to control the situation were overwhelmed as the crowd began to pelt stones, injuring them and damaging their vehicle.
The injured policemen have been admitted to a private hospital in Erode and 30 migrant workers have been arrested.
CCTV footage of the police being attacked as they try to protect themselves in the security booth has gone viral.
