3 UPSC aspirants seek extra attempt from SC as they missed mains exam due to Covid-19

Three UPSC aspirants have moved to the Supreme Court seeking an extra attempt for the UPSC 2021 mains examination as they were unable to appear for the exam due to contracting Covid-19
Seeking an extra attempt to appear in the exams, three candidates who had cleared UPSC 2021 prelims exam but were not able to appear for all the papers of last month's main exams as they tested positive for Covid-19 approached the Supreme Court.
The petitioners have asked the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to offer them another chance to take the test or, in the alternative, to make some arrangements to appear in the remaining papers that they were unable to complete before the results are released.
While one aspirant couldn't appear for any papers because of CID-19, the other two aspirants couldn't appear for the main exam that was held from January 7 to 16.
The plea was heard by a bench of Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice CT Ravikumar on Monday.
The plea came up for hearing on Monday before a bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar and CT Ravikumar.
Senior Advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan, who appeared for the petitioners, was also asked by the bench to serve the petition's copy to the standing counsel for the concerned respondents.
Further asking to provide an advance copy, the bench further posted the matter for hearing on March 7.
