3 arrested for cheating Udupi doctor of ₹8.5 lakh after promising MPH seat in UK

Udupi police have arrested three persons allegedly involved in cheating a Udupi-based doctor of a Master of Public Health (MPH) seat in the United Kingdom.
The arrested persons are S. Suman, 24, of Hosanagar in Shivamogga, Suhan Khan, 22, and Mohammed Mahaz, 23, both from Belvai village near Moodbidri, said police who have seized ₹5 lakh, a car and two mobile phones from the trio.
In a compliant to Udupi Town police, Dr. A. Santosh said he met Altaf in Dubai on January 9. Altaf promised to get Dr Santosh a MPH seat in the UK on payment of ₹18 lakh. Altaf asked Dr. Santosh to transfer ₹8.5 lakh to N. Suman. On returning to Udupi, Dr. Santosh transferred the amount. When Altaf did not answer his calls, Dr. Santosh filed a complaint seeking action against the accused for cheating.
A team comprising Police Sub Inspectors Eeranna Shiragumpi, Punit Kumar and Bharatesh arrested the trio for offences punishable under Sections 316(2) and 318(2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

A non-resident Indian (NRI), who has property in Bengaluru, said his associate in Bengaluru spent more than two months to secure the e-khata but now he is faced with a bigger hurdle. Despite submitting the latest EC to the office, the ARO is citing some errors while securing e-khata. The ARO further claimed that the technical errors disallowed uploading of the EC.

Though the sea turtles take abundant precaution in choosing their nesting sites by arriving on beaches during full moon high-tides and digging nests for a depth of up to 1.5 ft as far as away from the high-tide line, eggs so laid are often devoured by predators, including stray dogs. And sometimes by human beings too.
