3.5 kg heroin recovered from two drug trafficking networks busted in Delhi

Two drug trafficking networks were busted in the national capital with 3.5 kg heroin seized by the police.
The Narcotics section of the Delhi crime branch busted two drug trafficking networks operating in the national capital.
Three people, including one African national, were arrested in the two operations and a total of 3.505 Kg of fine quality heroin was recovered from their possession.
KPS Malhotra, Dy. Commissioner of Police Crime Branch (Narcotics) said, “In Operation one, on May 25, specific input regarding drug peddling by a person named Ankush was received at the Narcotics section. Acting on the information, a trap was laid near the main Keshav Nagar, Delhi and suspect Ankush, who is a resident of Indira Basti, Timar Pur, was apprehended. From his possession, 505 grams of fine quality heroin was recovered.”
During interrogation, the accused revealed that he was a school dropout and his family had criminal antecedents , police said. The accused’s father was involved in the sale of illicit liquor and his mother was also previously involved in drug trafficking.
“He used to procure the drugs from a person in Sultanpuri (name withheld) and then sold the same in the locality. Further, raids are being conducted to trace the source of supply of drugs,” Malhotra said.
In the second operation on May 27, the police, acting on specific intelligence input, laid a trap in Dabri Mahavir enclave, Delhi. A Nigerian national named Anthony and Sanjay, a resident of Uttam Nagar were arrested.
The police recovered three kg of heroin from their possession.
