A preliminary probe disclosed that Megashree's body had been recovered with injuries on her head and face.
A 29-year-old woman's body was found on railway tracks near Avadi in the Thiruvallur district, situated on the outskirts of Chennai. Identified as Megashree, the woman was reportedly an IIT, Madras student pursuing her three-month research programme with the institution.
A preliminary probe disclosed that Megashree's body had been recovered with injuries on her head and face. Her corpse was found on the railway track by Railways employees on August 19. Following this, the staff members informed the Railways police of the adverse development.
The police reached the spot and her body was sent to Kilpauk medical college hospital for postmortem.Police have begun an investigation to probe into Megashree's presence in Avadi, which is situated far away from the IIT Madras campus. Also, a detailed probe has been initiated to conclude whether Megashree slipped on railway tracks by accident or the involvement of someone in the case.
