Doha: The Ministry of Municipality in coordination with Ministry of Commerce and Industry managed to seize 250 tonnes of frozen meat, whose validity dates have been forged. Ministry inspectors received information that a meat production factory in the Industrial Area extended the validity of frozen meat for one of the meat trading companies. It was found that the factory removed the meat packaging and the original expiration dates, which was close, and repacked it extending its validity for a whole year and stored it in one of its logistic warehouses. Dr Nawal Muhammad Abdullah, head of Central Inspection Team at the Office of the Assistant Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs, stated that a report was issued on the violation and the meat was seized and procedures were being followed for its disposal. The Ministry of Interior was informed for completion of procedures and transfer those responsible for the violation to the investigation authorities. The Ministry of Municipality said that “it will not tolerate any violations related to foodstuffs, whether through cheating or selling spoiled food or any other violations.”
