Taiwan's Defence Ministry said it had detected 21 Chinese military aircraft and 6 Chinese naval ships in and around the Taiwan Strait on Thursday.
The tension between Taiwan and China continued to escalate as Taiwan's Defence Ministry said it had detected 21 Chinese military aircraft and 6 Chinese naval ships in and around the Taiwan Strait on Thursday.
The Defence Ministry issued a press release on the dynamic air situation in the airspace around the Taiwan Strait and stated, "The Ministry of National Defense stated today (August 11) that as of 1700 hours, a total of 21 aircraft sorties (including 11 sorties crossing the central line of the strait) and a total of 6 ships have been detected, continuing to operate around the Taiwan Strait."
"The National Army uses mission aircraft, ships and shore-based missile systems to closely monitor and respond," it added.
The Defence Ministry tweeted, "6 PLAN vessels and 21 PLA aircraft around our surrounding region were detected today (August 11, 2022) until 1700(GMT+8). #ROCArmedForces have monitored the situation and responded to these activities with aircraft in CAP, naval vessels, and land-based missile systems."

Meanwhile, Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen said on Thursday that China's threat of force is undiminished.
