2 Tamil Nadu policemen killed while investigating road accident in Namakkal

Two Tamil Nadu policemen, who were investigating a road accident, were killed on Sunday night. They had pulled over a truck driver for going beyond the speed limit. As they were questioning him, another van rammed into the truck, killing the policemen on the spot.
Two Tamil Nadu policemen were killed while they were investigating a road accident in Tamil Nadu’s Namakkal district. They had stopped a truck for driving at high speed, and while they were questioning the driver, another vehicle rammed into them, killing them on the spot.
Puduchatram Police special sub-inspector (SSI) Chandrasekhar and constable Devarajan were investigating an accident in which a Ford car had hit a road diversion board kept near Anaipalayam service road around midnight on Sunday, June 12.
Govindan and Nandagopal, who were on night patrol on the highway with Devararajan, SSI Chandrasekhar, Palani and Manikandan, had reached the spot to investigate the accident.
Around 2.10 am, the team saw a lorry driving at high speed, which almost crashed into the Ford car. The police team stopped the lorry and pulled the driver out to question him as to why he was not following the speed limit.
As they were standing behind the lorry questioning the driver, a van, which was on its way to Salem, slammed into the rear of the truck at high speed. Constable Devarajan and SSI Chandrasekhar sustained severe injuries to the head and died on the spot.
Constable Manikandan and three passengers inside the van sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment.
Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed his condolences to the grieving family and announced a solatium of Rs 25 lakh.
