2 hospitalized after SUV, semi collision in Saskatoon

Two people were sent to hospital Friday night following a collision between a semi and a passenger vehicle in west Saskatoon.
An SUV and the semi collided at about 10:40 p.m. at 22nd Street West and Diefenbaker Drive, according to nformation from the Saskatoon police and fire department.
The Saskatoon Fire Department arrived five minutes after the crash happened and found two people trapped inside the SUV's front seats.
The passenger door was pried open and the woman was given medical attention.
The driver's-side door had to be removed with hydraulic tools and the driver was pulled from the vehicle, the fire department said. The driver and passenger were both taken to hospital.
In a Saturday news release, the fire department said the condition of the two patients was not known.
The Saskatoon police collision analyst unit investigated the scene, the police service said. Traffic restrictions were put in place in the area near the crash but those were being removed Saturday morning.
