Delhi Police on Saturday apprehended two people involved in the assault of a police constable at the Anand Vihar police station. A video emerged on social media earlier showing a group of people surrounding a police constable as one man hits him.
The incident took place on July 30 after the police received a call at around 11:27 pm from a woman in Karkardooma to file a complaint against a man named Ajay. She said that she was physically assaulted and a gold chain was broken by him.
The police found Ajay in an intoxicated state and took him to the police station after apprehending him.
Later, a group made up of Ajay’s brother Satish Choudary and other men came to the police station and tried to provoke the personnel on duty. Head constable Prakash came to the station to make an entry regarding a mechanical issue with his police vehicle and was surrounded by the group. They soon started assaulting and hitting him.
Some of the men in the group also made a video of the incident and posted it on social media.
Police have so far apprehended two people and an investigation in the matter is underway.
