Police spent much of Thursday at a south Edmonton gas station, the scene of what they've called a "serious targeted incident" but had still provided few details as the sun set.
Officers swarmed a Petro-Canada gas station in the area of 50 Street and Ellerslie Road early Thursday afternoon.
A CTV News Edmonton crew observed what appeared to be two bodies, covered with blankets, on the pavement outside the gas station.
Several people at the scene were seen crying and being consoled.
People in the area on Thursday said they are shocked by what happened.
"I was just in an Uber to go to pick up my mail and we saw the police tape and I thought it was an accident at first," Candace Marshall told CTV News Edmonton.
"Walking back out here to go to the bank over there I realized seeing an ambulance and bodies covered, I realized that there was something way more serious."
