18 new COVID-19 cases in the London area Wednesday, no deaths

The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) is reporting 18 new cases of COVID-19 and no additional deaths on Wednesday.
There were seven recoveries posted by the health unit, with 138 active cases in the region, the highest level since mid-October.
The seven-day rolling average for daily cases is up to 16.
London Health Sciences Centre is reporting 22 patients being treated for COVID-related illnesses at local hospitals on Wednesday, up one from the previous day. There are 10 adult patients in critical care, five or fewer with COVID-19 in the Children's Hospital and five or fewer patients in Pediatric Critical Care.
Five or fewer staff members have tested positive for the virus and are isolating.
Community leaders showed resounding praise as 90 per cent of eligible residents aged 12 and up in London have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
The health unit says 87.1 per cent of those 12 and up are now fully vaccinated.
Children ages five to 11 are now eligible to get a paediatric dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and booking are available for December. To book an appointment, visit the health unit's booking portal.
Southwestern Public Health reported 22 new COVID-19 cases and no deaths on Wednesday. There are 165 active cases in Elgin-Oxford, including 38 Aylmer, 31 in Woodstock and 31 in Tillsonburg. The St. Thomas General Hospital is caring for 16 patients with the virus, including five in critical care.
Huron Perth Public Health posted three new cases on Wednesday, with 33 ongoing cases in the region.
Meanwhile, Ontario reported 591 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, along with seven more deaths.
