A 17-year-old girl died by suicide at her home in Tamil Nadu’s Karur on Friday, leaving behind a note alleging that she was being sexually harassed, police said.

A class 12 student, the girl returned home from school on Friday evening and hanged herself to death while her widowed mother was absent. Her body was discovered by a neighbour, an elderly woman, who dropped by the house after she didn’t see the girl come outside for a long time.
