Mayor Andrew Ginther said the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation had launched an investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
A 15-year-old girl was reportedly shot dead by a police officer in Columbus, Ohio, on Tuesday afternoon, about the same time that a jury in Minneapolis was returning guilty verdicts against Derek Chauvin, a former cop, in the killing last year of George Floyd. According to local reports, police had been responding to a 911 call about an attempted stabbing when the shooting occurred. Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther later confirmed that a police officer had been involved in the death of a “young woman.” “We do not know all of the details,” Ginther said. “There is body-worn camera footage of the incident. We are working to review it as soon as possible.”More Related News
