Police have booked 10 people for beating up a Dalit teen tied to a pole in a Karnataka village.
Police have booked 10 people for holding a 14-year-old Dalit boy hostage and thrashing him over suspicion of theft at a village in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur district.
Police said the boy was allegedly assaulted by a group of upper caste people around 9:30 pm on Thursday in Kempadenahalli village.

Police said the boy’s mother, in her complaint, stated that her son was dragged outside over the suspicion that he had stolen some gold jewellery.
The mother said the teen was tied to a pole and thrashed mercilessly.
Police have recorded the statements of the victim and lodged a case under the provisions of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act,1989.
