1 new death, 22 COVID-19 cases reported in Waterloo region Thursday

Waterloo region saw 22 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday.
There was one more COVID-related death recorded, increasing the number since the start of the pandemic to 307.
There are 230 active cases in the region.
Six people are currently hospitalized with the infection, four of whom are in the intensive care unit.
There were 12 active outbreaks in the region on Thursday.
Blessed Sacrament Catholic Elementary School is grappling with an outbreak connected to 17 cases. On Wednesday, public health announced the school will be closed to in-person learning for at least 10 days.
Floradale Public School in Elmira is also under outbreak status with two cases.
A new outbreak was declared at JHCC Riverside Child Care Centre with two cases.
Local church Apostolic Faith Mission is also now facing a COVID-19 outbreak with five linked cases.

The region's vaccination dashboard suggests 74.86 per cent of all residents are fully vaccinated in Waterloo region.
Meanwhile, the region will begin administering doses for children aged five to 11 on Friday.
