The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) is reporting 85 new COVID-19 cases and one additional death on Thursday.
A man in his 90s who was not vaccinated has died, according to the MLHU. There have now been five people who have died with COVID-19 this month. The death toll since the pandemic began is up to 257 for Middlesex-London.
There were 43 recoveries reported, with 550 active cases in the region, up over 76 per cent from last Thursday.
The seven-day rolling average for daily cases is up to 63.
The lowest rate of transmission is among people aged 65 and older, who accounted for two of the cases reported Thursday. Children aged 11 and under and those 40 to 64 make up the majority of cases in the region, with 23 and 26 cases respectfully.
There have been 755 cases of COVID-19 in Middlesex-London so far in December. One quarter of those are among children 11 and younger, along with people aged 40 to 64, who account for another quarter of total cases.
London Health Sciences Centre was caring for 14 patients with COVID-related illnesses at local hospitals, up one from the previous day.
Five or fewer adult patients are in critical care, five or fewer with COVID-19 in the Children's Hospital and there are no patients in pediatric critical care, according to the hospital network.
Twelve staff members have tested positive for the virus and are isolating.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 46 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday and no additional deaths. There are 208 ongoing cases in the region. There are 11 people in hospital in Elgin-Oxford, including seven patients in critical care.
Huron Perth Public Health posted 31 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, with 118 ongoing infections in the region.
Meanwhile, Ontario reported 2,421 new COVID-19 on Thursday, the most on a single day in seven months. There were nine additional deaths across the province.
The number of patients being treated for COVID-related illnesses who are in critical care is up to 165. The seven-day rolling average for daily cases across the province is up to 1,676, a 59 per cent jump from last week.
