1 death, 17 new COVID-19 cases in the London area Tuesday

Recent developments:
The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) reported 17 new COVID-19 cases and one additional death on Tuesday. The health unit says a man in his 40s died with the virus. He was partially vaccinated.
There have now been five COVID-related fatalities in Middlesex-London in September and 238 deaths since the pandemic began.
The MLHU posted 22 recoveries on Tuesday, with 189 known active cases in the region. The rolling seven-day average of daily cases increased to 23.
London Health Sciences Centre says it is treating nine patients with COVID-19-related illnesses. There are five or fewer patients in adult critical care. The hospital network says it is not treating any patients from outside of the health region at this time.
Five or fewer staff members at the hospital network have tested positive for the virus and are in quarantine.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford has said he knows many people are concerned about their civil liberties being impeded by the incoming vaccine certificate system.
