The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) reported 13 new COVID-19 cases and the death of a man in his 70s on Wednesday. Health officials have confirmed that the deceased was fully vaccinated.
The latest victim was the sixth person to die with COVID-19 in September. A woman in her 80s who was fully vaccinated died on Sept. 10. Three other people who died were not vaccinated and a man in his 40s was partially vaccinated. There have been 239 COVID-related deaths in Middlesex-London since the pandemic began.
There were 515 people tested for the virus at the Carling Heights assessment centre on Tuesday.
The health unit posted 21 recoveries, with 153 known active cases in the region. The rolling seven-day average of daily cases fell on Wednesday to 16.
London Health Sciences Centre says it is treating 15 patients with COVID-19-related illnesses. There are seven patients in adult critical care, and five or fewer in the Children's Hospital and Paediatric Critical Care.
Five or fewer staff members at the hospital network have tested positive for the virus and are in quarantine.
