1 dead, 7 injured after minibus, SUV collide in Montérégie

CBC
Wednesday, April 9, 2025 1:51 PM GMT

One person is dead and several others were injured after a head-on collision involving a minibus and an SUV in the Montérégie.

Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Camille Savoie said the deadly crash happened at around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday on Route 209 in Saint-Rémi, Que.

Savoie said the minibus, that was carrying around 10 people, was heading south when it is believed to have veered out of its lane and into oncoming traffic.

One person was killed and seven others were injured, including two with life-threatening injuries.

Savoie said the person who died and all of those who were injured were onboard the bus. They were all taken to hospital for treatment.

Police were unable to confirm the number of people in the SUV, but said their injuries were minor.

Route 209, also called Rang Notre-Dame in Saint-Rémi, was closed off to allow for the investigation.

Savoie said weather conditions may have contributed to the crash.
