1 dead, 1 arrested in Whitehorse as RCMP investigate homicide on New Year's Day

One person is dead and a suspect has been arrested in a homicide investigation in Whitehorse, according to RCMP.
Police said in a press release on New Year's Day that they'd been called to a home near the corner of 7th Avenue and Main Street at 3:40 p.m. that day, where they found a male with critical injuries. Police said despite first aid from paramedics at the scene, the person died.
RCMP said a male suspect was identified quickly and then arrested.
RCMP have not said how old either individual was, or whether the suspect had been charged.
Police said Wednesday that parts of downtown Whitehorse were being held as their homicide investigation continued. They said there's no more threat to the public.
