1 adult male rushed to hospital after incident at Ship and Anchor pub

An adult male has been rushed to Foothills Hospital in Calgary in "life threatening condition" after an incident at the Ship and Anchor pub, EMS has confirmed to CBC News.
A spokesperson for EMS said responders received a call at approximately 6 p.m. on Saturday for an adult male in medical distress.
EMS was unable to confirm whether the incident was connected to an eating competition that was being held at the pub.
In a statement shared to social media, Ship and Anchor said they would be closed for the rest of the evening following the incident.
"Tonight one of our customers suffered a serious medical event," read the statement.
"The incident was traumatizing for everyone involved, and as a result we have decided to shut the pub for the remainder of the evening."
According to Ship and Anchor social media accounts, the pub was hosting an Oktoberfest celebration Sept. 23.
The leader of Canada's Green Party had some strong words for Nova Scotia's Progressive Conservatives while joining her provincial counterpart on the campaign trail. Elizabeth May was in Halifax Saturday to support the Nova Scotia Green Party in the final days of the provincial election campaign. She criticized PC Leader Tim Houston for calling a snap election this fall after the Tories passed legislation in 2021 that gave Nova Scotia fixed election dates every four years.
