Zomato, Swiggy to stop delivering food in Mumbai after 8 pm

Zomato, Swiggy have stopped deliveries after 8pm in Maharashtra owing to the night curfew and new lockdown restrictions.
In view of a surge in COVID cases, food-hailing giants Swiggy and Zomato have announced that they will stop delivering food after 8pm in Maharashtra. Users in Maharashtra have received in-app notifications from Swiggy and Zomato, asking them to order food before 8 pm. The notifications were sent out to users on the first day of the lockdown in Maharashtra on April 5. The Maharashtra government has imposed a night curfew every day that starts at 8pm and complete lockdown on Weekends. The night curfew goes on till 7 am. The government order read, “Take-away orders, parcels, and home delivery services will only be allowed between 7am to 8pm from Monday to Friday. On weekends, only home delivery services shall be allowed between 7am to 8pm and there shall be no visiting any restaurant or bar for ordering purposes or pickup.” Swiggy has said that it will comply with the government’s order. “We continue to cooperate with the government in its efforts to fight the pandemic. Last month we announced that we're prioritizing creating awareness across our delivery fleet and extending our Covid cover to include their vaccination cost. In light of the requirements for Maharashtra, we will also cover the cost of their RT-PCR test.As an essential service, we are supporting the health and safety of our delivery partners and consumers, and are working with authorities to ensure safe deliveries,” a Swiggy spokesperson said.More Related News
