Ireland vs India: Yuzvendra Chahal won the Player of the Match award for his miserly figures of 1/11 in India's 7-wicket win in the 1st T20I in Dublin on Sunday.
Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal said on Sunday that he had to find ways to adapt to the cold weather in Dublin during the 1st T20I against Ireland. The T20I series opener was delayed by close to 2 hours as rain arrived just before the toss and led to a drop in temperature.
Yuzvendra Chahal shone in India's 7-wicket victory as the leg-spinner showcased incredible control, giving away just 11 runs in his 3-over spell. Chahal picked up the wicket of Ireland's wicketkeeper Lorcan Tucker and kept the pressure on the rest of the batters even as the hosts scored 108 runs in their quota of 12 overs.
The match was reduced to a 12-overs-per-side contest after the rain delay. Chahal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar shone with the ball for India before a stunning 47 not out from Deepak Hooda helped the visitors chase down the target in just 9.2 overs.
Chahal was named the Player of the Match for his miserly effort with the ball in conditions that were not suited to spin bowling.
"Very difficult (to bowl in these cold conditions). I felt like a finger spinner today. Sometimes it's hard, but you have to adapt to every condition," Chahal said after his match-winning efforts in the 1st T20I.
Presenter Alan Wilkins made sure that Chahal did not spend a lot of time out in the ground, keeping the conversation short during the presentation ceremony.
"No I'm not okay I'm wearing three sweaters right now," Chahal said jokingly.
