VK Sasikala on Sunday carried out a mega roadshow to gather public support. The rally comes amid the intense tussle between AIADMK leaders O. Panneerselvam and Edappadi K. Palaniswami over the party’s leadership.
With Edappadi K Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam, the two former chief ministers of Tamil Nadu, locking horns over party leadership in the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), expelled general secretary of the party, VK Sasikala, on Sunday carried out a mega roadshow in Chennai, Tiruvallur and Thiruttani, to gather public support.
Sasikala took out the roadshow to "defend the rights of Tamil soil and the dignity of women".
Sasikala started from her residence in T Nagar in a campaign vehicle, trying to recreate the campaign tours done by J Jayalalithaa. During the course of the roadshow, she met the public and cadres at various points.
Speaking at Thiruttani, she said, "When M G Ramachandran started the party, he had said that he was creating this party for the poor and the common man. It is a party without any caste, creed or religion. This party worked for the welfare of the poor and so did Amma."

She added that after Amma's death it was Sasikala's responsibility to safeguard the party and hence she started this journey.
Talking about the infighting in the party, she said, "As far as I am concerned, the party cadres and general public are with me and hence, I will soon bring about the AIADMK rule, which is for the poor and the common man."
