With the total Covid cases cross the 95,000-mark in Uttarakhand and the pandemic reaching far-flung villages and claiming many lives, the Uttarakhandis of the National Capital Region (NCR) have banded together to extend a helping hand. Small groups of first or second-generation Uttarakhandis who are living in NCR have come together to send essential medical equipment and medicines for the villages of Uttarakhand. Deepak Negi, a marketing professional, hails from the small village of Timalsain in the Rikhnikhal block of the Pauri Garhwal area. He says he got to know about the sufferings of the villagers through common friends and relatives. "Unlike the plains, the villages of Uttarakhand are very remote and modes of transportation are limited. Also, there are not enough health facilities for the villagers which are claiming many lives. We decided to run a campaign through social media to help such villagers," said Negi. Negi's family and friends started contacting the village heads of Rikhnikhal block and started sending them masks, medicines, oximeters and many other essential equipments for Covid treatment and prevention.More Related News
