Two die after being crushed under bus tyres in Coimbatore | Video

Two people died in Coimbatore on Wednesday in a road accident. They were identified as Manoj and Aarthi. Manoj’s bike skidded when he tried to overtake a bus nearby. They fell down and were crushed under the rear tyres of the bus.
Manoj, a 19-year-old from Savuripalayam in Coimbatore district, and Aarthi, a Lankan Tamil refugee’s daughter died in a road accident on Wednesday, June 8. The tragic accident was caught on a CCTV fixed in a nearby shop.
While crossing Selvapuram, Manoj, who was driving a bike with Aarthi seated behind him, tried to overtake a government bus from the left. But his bike’s tyre skid on the roadside dirt, resulting in both Manoj and Aarthi falling down.
In a split second, the victims' heads came under the rear tyres of the bus. The bus driver couldn’t stop on time, and the rear wheel of the vehicle went over Manoj and Aarthi’s heads, crushing them to death.
Selvapuram Police reached the spot and sent the bodies for autopsy. They also detained the bus driver for questioning.
Further investigation is underway.
