Thirteen suffer burn injuries in cylinder blast in UP's Bulandshahr

At least thirteen people suffered burn injuries after a cylinder exploded in Bulandshahr on Monday. The incident took place in the kitchen of Polytechnic College.
An explosion in the kitchen of a Polytechnic college in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr on Monday caused panic among the students and teachers. Thirteen people, including ten students, suffered burn injuries after an LPG cylinder exploded in the hostel of the college located in Debai tehsil.
The injured have been taken to Aligarh for medical treatment and a few people sustained severe burn injuries. The condition of the two victims is said to be critical.
The incident took place when a 5 kg LPG cylinder suddenly exploded when the kitchen staff were busy cooking food today.
Bulandshahr DM SP Singh said, "Ten students suffered burn injuries after a small cylinder exploded in the kitchen of a Polytechnic college at around 9 am today. The injured have been taken to the Aligarh Medical College for treatment and all arrangements have been made for their treatment."
He further said that the condition of all students is stable. "Aligarh CMO, Deputy Collector of Bulandshahr and officials of Debai Tehsil are present at the hospital. Preliminary probe has revealed that the incident happened when food was being prepared in the kitchen. Further investigation is underway," he added.
