Teary-eyed Marcelo bids emotional farewell to Real Madrid – I am not scared about the future

Marcelo mentioned that he is yet to take a decision on his future but brushed off his retirement speculations. He also said that he won’t be going back to his native Brazil.
Brazilian star Marcelo broke down on Monday, June 13, as he bid adieu to Real Madrid. The veteran said that he never thought of retiring from the game and is still motivated to keep playing for a long time.
"I don't think much about the future, I like to live in the moment. But it's really hard to leave the club that you played your entire life," Marcelo was quoted as saying at a news conference.
"I'm not scared about the future. I've done what I wanted here and I'm looking forward to what's next. Not with fear of uncertainty, but with excitement."
Marcelo mentioned that he is yet to take a decision on his future but brushed off his retirement speculations. He also said that he won’t be going back to his native Brazil, hinting that he wants to keep plying his trade in Europe.
The 34-year-old made 546 appearances for the club after joining them way back in 2007 and leaves as the most decorated player in the history of Real Madrid’s football.
His departure comes after winning a fifth Champions League title as team captain. It also happened to be his 25th trophy with the club as they defeated Liverpool 1-0 in the final in Paris back in May
"I walk out of here with my head held high. My family is very proud of me," Marcelo said as he shed tears at the ceremony held by the club attended by his close friends, family, team mates and coach Carlo Ancelotti.
