T20 World Cup: Charith Asalanka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa took the game away from Bangladesh who seemed to be on top after Shakib Al Hasan picked two wickets in the ninth over. Sri Lanka continue their perfect record in the tournament in the UAE.
Charith Asalanka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa starred as Sri Lanka chased down 172 to beat Bangladesh by 5 wickets and get off to a winning start in the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup. This is Sri Lanka's fourth consecutive win in the tournament, having come out of the first round with a 100 percent record.
Asalanka and Rajapaksa put up 86 off just 52 balls for the fifth wicket, with the latter blazing 53 off 31 balls. Rajapaksa swung the momentum in Sri Lanka's favour when he hit two sixes and as many fours in the 16th over. While Sri Lanka had a little wobble towards the end with Rajapaksa falling in the 19th over, Asalanka hit the winning runs for the former champions.
