The Supreme Court on Thursday reserved its order for June 10 on a batch of petitions seeking a special stray round of counselling to fill the vacant seats in NEET-PG.
The Supreme Court on Thursday reserved its order for tomorrow, June 10, on a batch of petitions seeking a special stray round of counselling to fill the 1456 seats in NEET-PG-21.
These seats remained vacant after the conduct of a stray round of counselling for All India Quota.
The court will also decide on the issue of whether all vacant India seats can be converted into the state quota.
A vacation bench of Justices M R Shah and Aniruddha Ghose reserved the order after hearing the detailed arguments from both sides.
The order will clarify the future course of action for the students who have appeared for the NEET-PG-2022 and couldn't get a seat.
During the hearing, Centre informed the top court that most of the vacancies were in fields such as anatomy and biology, which are research and teaching fields, and there is no possibility of working as a doctor and that's the reason why students do not opt for these fields.
Additional Solicitor General Balinder Singh said, "Medical education is a business today. These courses are not popular in the market and that's why there are no takers even though we have conducted nine rounds of counselling."
