Steve Smith on Australia captaincy: I've certainly thought about it, I would be keen if it comes up
India Today
Three years since the Sandpapergate debacle rocked Australian cricket, former captain Steve Smith has said that he is keen on leading the national side again if CA is up for it.
Steve Smith was handed a one year ban, with a two-year ban on Australia captaincy, by Cricket Australia back in March 2018 in light of the Sandpapergate debacle. Smith and David Warner made their return to the side during the 2019 World Cup. The former Australia skipper’s captaincy ban has also been lifted but the board hasn’t shown any signs of handing over the leadership role back to Smith. However, Smith, who is regarded as one the finest Test batsman, has voiced his eagerness to lead Australia again. According to the veteran batsman, he has thought a lot about captaincy following the Cape Town incident and believes he is ready for a second haul.More Related News
