Former Punjab Congress Congress committee (PCC) chief, Navjot Singh Sidhu, who has been sulking after he was removed as chief, briefly attended the induction ceremony of new Punjab Congress chief, Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, on Friday.
Sidhu, however, did not share the stage with the newly appointed PCC Chief and confined himself to an office room.
Sidhu was personally invited by Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Thursday over the telephone to grace the occasion. Sidhu, while speaking to the media, said “Congress requires a makeover and the new PCC Chief is a youth icon.”
Navjot Singh Sidhu and his supporters were miffed with the Congress party high command, which trusted Warring and did not pay much heed to Sidhu's lobbying.
Sidhu has been organising parallel meetings for quite some time, and has been personally meeting leaders expelled from the Congress for anti-party activities.
Another ex-Punjab Congress chief, Sunil Jakhar, absented himself from the low-key induction ceremony.
Those seen sharing the stage with the new Punjab Congress chief included Punjab affairs in charge Harish Choudhary, besides senior party MLAs, MPs and others.
