The two-day “Research Scholars’ Conference in Health Sciences and Life Sciences – 2025” was inaugurated at JSS Medical College, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER), in the city on Thursday.
The theme of the conference is “Frontiers in Health and Life Sciences: Innovations, Challenges, and Future Directions”. Nearly 450 participants, including academicians, researchers, and industry experts are taking part in it to explore cutting-edge innovations in health and life sciences.
It also features 286 poster presentations and 104 oral presentations showcasing recent advancements.
C.G. Betsurmath, executive secretary of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, said the conference is structured around key areas shaping the future of research in India and its applications in healthcare and life sciences.
He highlighted the importance of such events in fostering self-reliance and excellence in higher education and research. B. Suresh, pro-chancellor of JSS AHER, emphasised the importance of embracing technology, stating that “time, tide, and technology wait for none.”
Vice-chancellor H. Basavanagowdappa outlined JSS AHER’s efforts in fostering interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research across medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, biomedical sciences, and management studies.
Gareth Cave, principal lecturer at Nottingham Trent University, UK, highlighted strong research collaborations with Indian students and reaffirmed his commitment to continuing partnerships with JSS AHER.

Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology (AIET), in association with the Institute of Industrial Nanomaterials, Kumamoto University, Japan, and BETA CAE Systems India Pvt. Ltd, Bengaluru, hosted a two-day international symposium on ‘Recent Advances in Materials Joining and Manufacturing Processes’ in Moodbidri recently.
