Rare animal's arrival will help reveal secrets 'of one of least-known species on the planet'

The birth of a rare okapi — also known as the forest giraffe — is delighting zookeepers at Chester Zoo in the U.K. as conservationists hope the animal's arrival will shed light on the species.
Named Arabi, the calf has been snuggled up in a nest behind the scenes but now has taken her first tentative steps outside at six weeks old, said SWNS. "Okapis are one of the least known and understood species on the planet, so every birth is incredibly special." The animals are also hunted for their meat, which is consumed locally.
