Ram Rahim allowed to meet family members only, says Haryana jail minister

Haryana jail minister Ranjit Chautala also said that Ram Rahim does not come under the category of hardcore prisoners.
The Dera Sacha Sauda sect head and self-proclaimed religious leader Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been allowed to go and meet just his family members, Haryana jail minister Ranjit Chautala said.
Ram Rahim, currently serving life imprisonment for the murder of former journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati and the rape of his two disciples, was released from Rohtak's Sunaria jail on a 21-day furlough on February 7.
While talking to India Today, the Jail minister said that stringent conditions have been imposed on Ram Rahim. He would not be allowed to go to public places, attend any religious gatherings or do political meetings, virtually as well, he said.
In the 21 days, Ram Rahim will only stay at one location in Gurugram and he will not be allowed to leave his house without the local administration's permission.

Ranjit Chautala said that Ram Rahim does not come under the category of hardcore prisoners as a legal opinion was taken from the advocate general of Haryana and jail authorities, according to which, the Dera chief is not a hardcore prisoner as per the Haryana Good Conduct Prisoners (Temporary Release) Act.
