Sadia Khateeb told IndiaToday.in, "Some days ago, I was playing Bidaai [song] on loop and we were travelling. I closed my eyes and suddenly I remembered one thing. When I was studying in school, there was a beautiful teacher of mine, a computer teacher. She would come wearing lovely suits [to school]. Cut to a few days later, she got married. She came wearing a chooda. Before she got married, she would wear a kurti and jeans like a normal girl. After she got married, vo aise pura laal chooda, sindoor, mangalsutra, red aur magenta suits pehenke aati thi. When a teacher comes dressed like this, as a young girl, you admire her. And it seems fascinating to get married. Hum ladkiya baat karte thi ki vo kitni pyaar lagti thi [We would discuss how beautiful she used to look]."
The actress further added, "Cut to a week after, we got to know that unke sasural walo ne unko kerosene se jala diya [her in-laws burnt her alive with her kersoene]. And I had the last visual of seeing her wearing a chooda and sindoor in computer class and I am looking from the window that how stunning she looks. Unko jo sasural walo ne jala diya tha, vo dowry ke liye jalaya tha [they burnt her alive for dowry]. Because right after she got married, [they were asking for] a dowry. This is in Jammu. You can't get away from the fact. It is there in the smallest of places and biggest of places. It is a very sensitive topic. It is wrong."
