The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Monday reported 165 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 during the past 24 hours, and recorded 308 recoveries from the virus, bringing the total number of cases recovered in Qatar to 355,641. The MoPH said that 163 of the new confirmed cases are among the community and 2 among travellers. The MoPH reported that 6,414,031 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered since the start of the vaccination programme, adding that 15,142 doses have been administered in the past 24 hours. The ministry added that 1,297,264 booster vaccine doses have been administered so far, explaining that 88.1% of the total population are now fully vaccinated with two doses. In a statement, MoPH noted that there is clear evidence of the protective effects of the vaccines and the majority of patients being admitted to ICU with Covid-19 are either unvaccinated or had their second dose more than six months ago and have not received a booster dose. It also noted that the latest evidence shows that the country has passed the peak of the third wave of the pandemic, as the number of daily new cases of the virus continues to decrease. The statement said the support of the community in adhering to government restrictions and Covid-19 precautions, in addition to the high vaccination rate, have played a significant role in stabilising the number of cases. The MoPH called for caution and continued adherence to restrictions and precautionary and preventive measures, and to contact the 16000 helpline immediately if anyone suffers from Covid-19 symptoms, as early detection of the disease makes it easier to obtain appropriate treatment and increases recovery chances.
