A 19-year-old girl from Beldanga, Murshidabad was granted bail by Berhampore district court on Thursday.
The police had arrested Aishani Biswas on June 11 over her controversial Facebook post where she had demanded that “rioters be thrown away from the country.”
Speaking to India Today, the lawyer of the girl, Chitaranjan Das said, “Two teenagers named Aishani Biswas of Beldanga and Sudeshna Mondal of Sagarpara were produced at Berhampore district court today. Aparna Chowdhury, CJM of the district court, granted bail with some conditions.”
Last week, protests in Bengal’s Murshidabad took a violent turn with protesters hurling bricks at cops when they tried to disperse the crowd near NH-34. The West Bengal police also resorted to lathi-charges and firing tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.
The protests had erupted over the remarks made by the suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma against the Prophet Muhammad.
