Prof. Geethalakshmi appointed first woman Vice-Chancellor of TNAU

Professor V. Geethalakshmi has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) by Governor R.N. Ravi.
A communique from Raj Bhavan, issued on Monday, said the Governor had appointed her for a term of three years from the date of assuming office. She would be the University’s first woman Vice-Chancellor.
Ms. Geethalakshmi had 26 years of teaching experience and guided 14 research scholars for doctorate. Her initiatives had led the University to sign 11 memoranda of understanding with national and international institutions.
She had also contributed for the development of three new crop varieties and eight new technologies.
Her other academic achievements included 115 research publications in peer-reviewed publications and journals, authoring 11 books and carrying out 33 research projects, the Raj Bhavan release said..
Ms. Geethalakshmi said she was the first woman to be appointed Vice-Chancellor of an agricultural university in the country and added that her aim was to make the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University scale greater heights.
